Artist Bio: Jacob Carson

Hi, I’m Jacob Carson, a fantasy artist, character designer, and digital painter based in Visalia, California. My work lives somewhere between storybook wonder and cinematic adventure, where every character feels like they could step off the canvas and into their own tale. I love creating art that feels alive—filled with light, emotion, and a touch of magic.

I work as a Character Designer and Creative at ImagineU Children’s Museum, where I help bring playful, imaginative worlds to life through illustration and interactive art. I’ve also had the joy of designing and painting murals at Storyland Fresno, turning familiar spaces into colorful escapes for families and dreamers alike.

Outside of my own projects, I love helping others find their creative spark. I teach art classes with California Adventure Camps and Arts Visalia, guiding kids, teens, and adults through the process of drawing, painting, and digital illustration. Watching someone discover their artistic voice is just as rewarding as finishing a new piece of my own.

My path to becoming a full-time artist wasn’t a straight one. Before art, I worked as a Tactical Aircraft Maintenance Technician and later as a Tractor Servicing Specialist, careers that taught me patience, precision, and a deep appreciation for craft. Eventually, I followed my passion and earned my Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from California State University, Fresno, where I was honored with Best in Show at the 2019 Farmersville Student Art Show.

Now, I split my time between freelance illustration, community art projects, and building new creative opportunities that push my work further. Whether I’m designing characters for a story, painting a digital landscape, or sketching in public, I’m always chasing the feeling of bringing imagination to life.
